Each year the OSU Center for Folklore Studies sponsors and co-sponsors a number of Special Events that are of interest to students, faculty, and the general public. Please check this link to learn more about these conferences, guest lectures, and special gatherings.
Folklore Professionalization Workshops are offered through the academic year to give folklore students a wider range of information about topics encountered by professional folklorists, both in academia and in the public and private sectors. Presentations are on topics such as grant writing, applying for employment, and getting published. For a complete list of workshops, check this link.
The Center provides financial and/or organizational support to a wide range of research and outreach activities relating to folklore and involving Center participants. Check Collaborations for a list of current and past collaborations.
Folklore Student Association offers a variety of activities throughout the year for graduate and undergraduate folklore students. For more information, check out this link.
The Patrick B. Mullen Prize is a special award given for the best folklore graduate student paper or project completed during the academic year. Graduate students in folklore are invited to read more and to apply.
Established in 1960 CFS Folklore Archives is a research repository available to folklore scholars and students. It houses more than 10,000 cataloged student and faculty projects that span over four decades of research at Ohio State, and includes a wide variety of audio and visual materials, such as audiotapes, videotapes, and more than 5,000 slides and photos.
