Anne Bower, Associate Professor in the Department of English at the Marion Campus, will give a talk entitled "Exploring Food and Culture: Cookbooks, Thin Ice, Movies, and Cultural Identity." Bower will consider the interdisciplinary nature of working with food and culture, as discovered with her work with community cookbooks, films, and material culture.

American Folklore Society Executive Director, Tim Lloyd, will speak on writing proposals for submission to the 2006 AFS Annual Meeting program committee.The meeting is scheduled to be held in Milwaukee, WI, October 18-22. AFS annual meeting proposals are due March 31 and may be electronically submitted. This luncheon workshop is worthwhile for anyone planning to present at AFS or for anyone interested in submitting proposals for other professional meetings. Lunch will be provided.
