The Center for Folklore Studies is pleased to sponsor a Student Coffee Hour with visiting folklorist Dr. Kyrre Kverndokk (Cultural Studies, University of Bergen) on Thursday, February 27th. On Friday the 28th, Kverndokk will be presenting on "Greta Thunberg, 'the child' and the polyphonic Vorbild" at the Exemplarity Conference sponsored by the Mershon Center.
Kverndokk specializes in environmental humanities, belief studies, archives, memory, disaster narratives, and Scandinavian studies. His numerous publications include "The Past as a Mirror: Deep Time Climate Change Exemplarity in the Anthropocene," "Negotiating Holocaust Memory in School-trip Reports," and "Disciplining the Polyphony of the Herbarium: The Order of Folklore in the Norwegian Folklore Archives" (a more extensive list can be found here).
