Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Tracy Lynch Najera

Tracy Nájera was born in San Antonio, Texas, but moved to Tipp City, Ohio as a young child. She describes her experience in Ohio as a contrast of what she was used to in Texas, where she not only had a large family but a large Mexican American community. Once in Ohio, she remembers not being able to maintain her Spanish language and culture publicly or at school. Nájera talks to us about growing up mixing her Mexican/Texan traditions from her mother with her father’s white European heritage and accepting this identity as part of who she is.
