The digitized documents housed in Box 23 are part of the extensive collection of materials donated by Karen Kieffer to the Center for Folklore Studies Archives in 2022. They span many years of work in various organizations, as well as in Kieffer’s research as a graduate student, during the 1980s to the 1990s. Within the collection are documents relating to Sister Cities organizations on both the local and national level, including the letters written in support of Kieffer’s participation in the first delegation to visit Copapayo. Also included are documents from various NGOs, research gathered in pursuit of a master’s degree, and a poem Kieffer wrote in response to her personal experiences.
