Laura Fernandez is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and is a recent graduate of The Ohio State University. Laura is the daughter of first generation Colombian immigrants. In this interview, she recalls the difficulties of dealing with the immigration system and shares her first memories of going to Colombia. She talks about the sacrifices her parents made by leaving Colombia and the unbelievable strength they displayed. Laura currently working as program coordinator with the College of Nursing to reduce the rate of infant mortality in the Latin@ and African American communities.
