Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Damaris Garduño

Damaris represents the younger generation of Latinos that has moved to Ohio to pursue education. She is originally from Southern California and attends Kenyon College in the small town of Gambier. As one of the first people in her family to attend college, she feels incredibly proud and has a desire to give back to her community back home. She tells us of her experience in this rural setting as a Latina, thriving in a community with only a handful of Latinos, her use of Spanish and the cultural and religious experience of her family that are an integral part of who she is.
