Grace Ramos has served many roles since moving to Dayton, OH in the 1970’s. She and her husband moved to Ohio from Iowa, where she grew up. When she moved to Ohio, she noticed that many people didn’t know about the Hispanic cultures so she began to organize cultural events that celebrated the Mexican American heritage. Whether at her children’s school or at church events, she was committed to teaching others about the traditions, music, and food that were part of her culture and of the growing immigrant community coming to Ohio. Mrs. Ramos believes that the key for change is to be informed about the politics that affect Latin@s and to engage them in order to demand change. She is current a board member of Wright State University.
