Jeannette Mira was born in El Salvador and moved to Cincinnati as a young child. She talks to us about moving to different cities throughout the United States before settling in Ohio. Both of her parents came from working-class backgrounds before becoming professionals in the medical field. She identifies her views on family and education as centered on her family’s upbringing and her Salvadoran heritage. Like many Salvadoran immigrants in the late 70’s and early 80’s, her family, too, was affected by El Salvador’s civil war.
