CFS is excited to be partnering with the The Appalachian Studies Network and the Department of African American and African Studies to host documentary filmmaker William Isom II with support from the Global Arts and Humanities Discovery Theme Mobile Methods and Practices Grant. Mr. Isom is the Director of the Black in Appalachia Project which works to "raise the visibility and contributions of the Black communities of the Mountain South through research, local narratives, public engagement and exhibition.”
Mr. Isom will hold a workshop titled Building Out Black Narratives During a Pandemic for students interested in documenting historically marginalized communities and the use of social media in public scholarship. To RSVP or for more information, please contact CFS public folklorist Dr. Jasper Waugh-Quasebarth (waugh-quasebarth.1@osu.edu).
This event is FREE and open to the public and will be captioned.
If you require an accommodation such as live captioning or interpretation to participate in this event, please contact Jasper Waugh-Quasebarth.1@osu.edu. Requests made two weeks before the event will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
