The digitized photographs housed in Box 24 are part of the extensive collection of materials donated to the Center for Folklore Studies Archives by Karen Kieffer. The bulk of Kieffer’s collection features images from her time as a delegate on several trips to El Salvador from 1988–1989, including images depicting the first visit to Copapayo after formally establishing the Sister City relationship, the devastating effects of war on the Salvadoran landscape, and documentation of several marches in the capital city. The photographs are placed in context by Kieffer, who wrote short descriptive guides for many groups of images while visiting the Center for Folklore Studies Archives in 2022.
