Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. Borland and Aubry Awarded Grant for Border Issues and Activism Field School

GAH+DT logo

Katherine Borland and Stephanie Aubry have secured a GAH+DT grant for a Border Issues and Activism Field School.  The four day field school will visit sites of immigration enforcement and immigrant rights activism across the state of Ohio to learn about how our national border is enforced and contested in our own backyard.  We will tour the sites of raids, detention facilities, and ICE offices, and we will speak with activists, former sanctuary residents, and immigrant rights lawyers in Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus. The 1 credit course is open to undergraduate students in good standing and will take place either over the fall or spring break, depending on University travel restrictions. In addition to offering students an experiential introduction to border issues, the field school facilitators hope to strengthen networks of immigrant rights activism across the state.
