Congratulations, Dr. Stork!

Jasmine Stork

Jasmine Stork defended her excellent dissertation, "Asexuality in Avengers Fanfiction: A Mixed-Methods Folklore Study" on Friday, July 16. This innovative study uses a folklore lens to integrate surveys and interviews with fans, fans' discussions of aesexuality, and implications for public health.  Jasmine did an MS in Public Health at OSU during her doctoral work.  As Jasmine argues, it would make a huge difference if health practitioners would pay attention to what people do and say regarding aesexuality. Her committee included Amy Shuman, advisor, Miranda Martinez, co-advisor, Merrill Kaplan, and Gail Kaye (from Public Health).  The outside examiner was Scott Graves, a professor of school psychology in the College of Education.  Jasmine has a Fulbright Fellowship in Poland for the coming year. Many congratulations!
