Congratulations to Wenyuan Shao, who advanced to candidacy for the PhD yesterday after passing her exams with a committee of Mark Bender (chair), Meow Hui Goh, Dorry Noyes, and Patricia Sieber. Wenyuan’s dissertation will translate and comment on parts of the Yi Chronicle, a complex composite manuscript text encompassing the cosmology, genealogy, history, and etiological myth of the Yi people of southwestern China.
