Visiting Scholar Ji Jun Curates Hagerty Hall Exhibit

Chinese Folk print title Treasures Fill the Home, from Yangjiabu, China

An exhibit of colorful Chinese folk prints hung around doors and in homes during Chinese New Year is now on display in the Hagerty Hall Lobby. The exhibit of over 40 prints is curated by Dr. Ji Jun, of Anyang Normal University, Henan Province, who is a visiting scholar from China. Dr. Ji was invited by the OSU Center for Folklore Studies and the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures (DEALL). Print styles from two important locales make up the exhibit, which includes a brief introduction to the carving of woodblocks and the printing process. Dr. Mark Bender of DEALL, Dr. Abhijit Varde of the Center for Languages, Literatures, and Cultures in Hagerty Hall, and Dr. Timothy Lloyd, Executive Director, American Folklore Society, Mershon Center, OSU aided in staging the exhibit. The exhibit will last the month of February.
